Boating In Tampa Bay FL

One of the best things about waterfront living in Tampa is the easy boating access to the surrounding gorgeous local waterways. The Tampa area has many so many water choices... such as the many area spring fed lakes, the Hillsborough or Alafia Rivers, Tampa Bay or the Gulf of Mexico! Imagine being able to pull up to Jackson's at Harbour Island for lunch and then cruise off to Honeymoon island to watch the sunset. There is always something going on waterwise in the Tampa Bay area. One of my favorite events is the Gasparilla boat parade... you haven't lived till you have done that... what a great time!

To all the waterfront homeowners who live in the Tampa Bay area, fyi the Tampa Boat Show is this weekend, Sept 6-8. I purchased my own boat from the Tampa Boat Show years ago, and enjoyed countless hours on the water. One of my favorites is jetting down the intracoastal in Pinellas County and seeing the aqua blue water as we head down to Sarasota for a day of island hopping and hanging with friends!

If you are lucky enough to live on or own real estate around one of the local Tampa area lakes, such as Lake Carroll in Original Carrollwood or Lake Keystone in Odessa, you can enjoy the gorgeous spring fed water in which many people love to boat, fish, ski, tube & wakeboard. Now even wakesurfing or wakeskating has recently become popular as well... I saw more people doing that last weekend then wakeboarding on Lake Carroll!

For those of you who like hanging out on larger boats, living in communities such as Harbour Island, Davis island, West Shore Yacht Club and Apollo Beach gives you the opportunity to keep your large boat right in your backyard. There is nothing better than walking out your backdoor, hopping on the boat with friends, and cruising to one of the many cool hangouts in the Tampa Bay area.

Every person I have ever sold a home to on the water here in Tampa absolutely loves it! Then I send them to the local boat shows... such as the Tampa Boat Show at the Tampa Convention Center where they can even test drive the boat of their choice. They have every kind of boat you can imagine with options you sometimes only see in fine homes!
For those of you that own a boat already, Beer Can island, a popular island weekend spot, is only minutes by boat from Apollo Beach and a quick trip from Downtown Tampa. If you want to troll around in really gorgeous water, start at Fort Desoto in St Pete and head south... absolutely breathtaking!
If you miss the Tampa boat show this weekend, don't worry... there will always be another one. Until then find a friend with a boat, but don't forget to be courteous and offer your buddy some gas money... because filling up a 300 gallon tank of gas is not cheap :)
