It is encouraging to see that this year we have had the largest number of entries since 2008 for the Parade of Homes. This might be one more indication the housing industry is on a path to recovery. There are 113 model homes on display during this year’s parade which started March 2 ending March 17th. This year, 33 builders in 75 communities throughout Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk counties will display the latest new-home designs and housing trends, says Tampa Bay Builder's Association (TBBA) president Joe Fontana of Ryland Homes.

Some featured home builders will include Homes By WestBay and Cardel Homes which both have models at Waterset. David Weekley will be the showcase home in Waterset. Model homes were judged by a panel of building-industry professionals from across Florida who considered site plan, curb appeal, design, materials, outdoor living spaces, architectural detailing and workmanship. I was honored this year to be nominated to be one of the judges. It was an exciting experience. Our group was assigned 4 gorgeous models in Fishhawk Ranch. I lived in Fishhawk and it was a pleasure judging these magnificent homes. My panel was composed of one decorating designer, a new construction marketing veteran and me, a Realtor. We judged the homes and were impressed by the efficient layouts, soaring ceilings, functional laundry rooms, expansive kitchens and more! Model homes are open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-6 p.m. Sunday throughout the parade.
The Parade of Homes is being presented by the TBBA’s Sales and Marketing Council (SMC), with a membership of more than 200 sales and marketing professionals from Tampa Bay.  The SMC promotes better and more efficient sales practices so consumers can enjoy a more positive and informed home-buying experience. Headquartered in Brandon, Fla., the TBBA is a professional organization serving Tampa Bay-area construction-related businesses in Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties. These include builders, developers, suppliers, subcontractors, lending institutions, architectural and engineering firms, as well as other related businesses. I recommend you stop by and check out Waterset and Fishhawk Ranch. You will enjoy the experience!
